During these challenging times of stay-at-home orders, I am heartened by the many ways that people are coming together while staying apart. Creativity, service, and generosity are rampant. Scientists are working furiously to develop medications and vaccines; businesses are quickly retooling plants to manufacture personal protective equipment; and thousands are donating to or volunteering at food banks. Libraries, too, are adding additional remote access resources and programs to better serve the public.

I hope that you have taken the opportunity to explore The Library’s homepage at and found some of the ways that you can enjoy The Library at your Place. You will see (as in the image below) that it easier than ever to access the School Tools page, e-Resources, Virtual Children’s Programming, Virtual Adult Programming, and so much more.

Virtual Programming

It is a great time to try out The Library’s many options for borrowing eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, steaming movies, and music. Collections of these resources have temporarily been expanded to meet the increased demand for online access and some new services have been added.

Have you explored any of the following yet?

TumbleBooks – a collection of eBook and eAudiobook titles for children, teens and adults that is being offered temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit for easy access.

EBSCO’s 5 Courtesy eBook Collections As a way of helping Pennsylvania communities during this crisis, EBSCO is providing full access to 5 of its e-Book collections to all POWER Library patrons through June 30, 2020. To view these, visit this POWER Library page at (look under e-resources).

RB Digital eAudiobooks and eMagazines ‒ RB Digitial is new to The Library and its collections contain thousands of eAudiobooks and a vast selection of magazines, further expanding what is available though Overdrive, Hoopla, and Flipster.

If you have not yet explored what these resources offer, I encourage you to do so soon. For a time, students will be able to access a broader collection of educational ebooks and resources from home and families will be able to enjoy increased options for free entertainment, leisure, and stress relief.
