Visit The Library during National Library Week, April 23-29, to explore all we have to offer.
Most people know about the wealth of stories available at The Library, from picture books and large print to eAudiobooks and eBooks. But there’s so much more to the story.
The Library is your place to belong – a welcoming space that brings communities together for entertainment, education, and connection through book clubs, storytimes, crafting classes, lectures, and more. The Library offers a wide array of informational resources, including several databases, genealogy resources, and access to tutor.com.
And libraries play a critical role in the economic vitality of communities by providing internet and technology access, literacy skills, and support for job seekers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. The Library supports Dauphin County with services such as access to PA CareerLink, Weiss Financial Ratings, and our Grants Information Center.

MARCO Celebrates National Library Week
MARCO will make five stops throughout the county during the week. If MARCO’s in your neighborhood, stop by to say “hi!” and leave with some library swag and a free book!
Celebrate Library Spirit Week with our Staff
Visit your local library during the week of April 23- 29 to see how staff celebrates the Spirit of The Library. They will be having a little fun and sporting a different dress-up theme each day. Members are welcome to join in the fun!
Monday 4/24 – Stereotypical Librarian Day
Cardigans, beaded glasses chains, sweater vests, midi-skirts, tweed. We all work in the library, and on this day, we’ll strive to look the part!
Tuesday 4/25 – Unique Hat Day
Do you have a wacky hat you just need an excuse to wear? This is the day for it!
Wednesday 4/26 – 80s Day
Bright colors, denim vests and leather jackets, big hair, crazy patterns, windbreakers, shoulder pads- so many funky fresh options to choose from! Let’s see your best 80’s fashion!
Thursday 4/27Sports – Team Day
Who do you root for? Wear your favorite team’s paraphernalia!
Friday 4/28 – Tropical Day
Wear a Hawaiian shirt or flowy fabric to bring thoughts of warm beaches, palm trees, and tiny umbrellas.
Saturday 4/29 – Neon and Bright colors day
Neon greens, yellows, reds, and more! If it doesn’t hurt your eyes just a little if you stare at it too long, what is even the point?
Celebrations during National Library Week
Monday, April 24: Right to Read Day, the State of America’s Libraries Report is released, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2022.
Tuesday, April 25: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
Wednesday, April 26: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are. See where MARCO is this week.
Thursday, April 27: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
