The Dauphin County Library System also serves as one of 28 state-designated District Library Centers. The Harrisburg Library District includes public libraries in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties. Located in the major marketing areas of the Commonwealth, a District Library Center is first a local library serving the people of its community and second a source of assistance to the citizens and local libraries within its district. Resources of a District Library Center go beyond those considered basic for every library. Support services include consulting, interlibrary loan, delivery, public relations and printing, staff training, audiovisual services and references services.
