Youth Services Assistant

Summary

The Dauphin County Library System is seeking a Part-Time Youth Services Assistant. The position provides public services focusing on youth and families in our libraries. The successful candidate will also deliver programming both in libraries and at outreach settings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in education; or minimum of 2 years of experience in child care or education setting; or 2 years of experience in the formal educational system.
  • One year experience working with children.
  • 2 years of active experience using MS Office Suite or equiv. and searching the Internet in a Windows environment.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, to reach and bend to place books on shelves, to kneel and sit on the floor during programs
  • Valid driver’s license.

Rate of Pay

The starting rate is $11.44/hr.


Schedule

This position will be 20 hours per week serving the East Shore Area Library and the Kline Library.

The schedule is

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at East Shore Area Library;
  • Thursday 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Kline Library; and
  • Two Saturdays in a six week rotation from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm at East Shore Area Library.  

(The six week Saturday rotation is:  week one – off; week two – work; week three – off; week four -off; week five – work; week six -off.)

IT- Technical Support Specialist

Summary

The Dauphin County Library System is seeking a dynamic and tech-savvy Technical Support Specialist. The successful candidate will install, document, troubleshoot, replace, and maintain hardware and software is needed. Travel between libraries is required. The Technical Support Specialist will provide staff with basic instruction on use of Library System’s hardware and software.

Minimum Qualifications

HS diploma or GED. Degree or certification showing successful completion of formal educational program in computer technology or related field. A+ or NET Certifications preferred. Six months’ experience supporting Windows networked environment. A valid PA driver’s license is required and the ability to move 40 lbs alone, and 100 lbs with assistance, to place materials in high and low locations.


Rate of Pay

Pay rate is $15.90 per hour


Schedule

Full-time, 37.5 hour/week, (Monday – Friday 7.5 hours daily between 8:00-5:00 PM but subject to change to meet the needs of The Library) based at the East Shore Area Library.

Born To Read Specialist

Summary

Specializes in the Born To Read program, which includes planning, implementing, presenting, tracking, marketing and evaluating the program in conjunction with various departments. Presents the program to babies and adults in the library and in an outreach environment.

Minimum Qualifications

BA or BS degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Knowledge of and/or courses in children’s literature, child development, and educational methods. Proficient in using computers, laptops, tablets, etc. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. One year experience in working with children and education. Requires a valid driver’s license for travel to various libraries and community locations on a frequent basis, professional customer service and communication skills, ability to move library materials within and between locations, ability to retrieve and place books on shelves, sufficient mobility to perform programming for children.


Rate of Pay

$16.00 per hour


Schedule

The full time schedule will include days, evenings and weekends to be determined upon the needs of programming and outreach activities.
