The Library calls for 2011 Sara Haldeman Haly Award nominations


HARRISBURG, Pa.— Nominations for The Library’s Sara Haldeman Haly Awards are now being accepted. These awards are presented each year to individuals who have made significant contributions in the areas of literacy and education in the community and to organizations that strive to improve library service in the community by partnering with The Library.

Win a Kindle Fire by joining The Library's Winter Reading Club


HARRISBURG, Pa.— Readers of all ages can join The Library’s 2012 Winter Reading Club, “CSI: Crime, Suspense, Intrigue!,” by reading a classic mystery, an intrigue filled thriller or any book of their choosing. Reading club participants who keep either a paper log or an online log of 8 books, videos, DVDs, audio books or ebooks they have completed, starting January 3, will receive a free library prize when they turn in their reading log beginning March 19. Reading logs can be turned in until April 13 to receive a prize.

Make Christmas Special at Elizabethville Area Library


HARRISBURG, Pa.— Children of all ages can make Christmas special by coming to the Elizabethville Area Library on Saturday, December 3 at 11:00 am or on Tuesday, December 6 at 6:00 pm. Attendees will hear holiday stories, make crafts, receive a free book and enjoy Christmas cookies.

The art of the household budget will be featured at Elizabethville Area Library


HARRISBURG, Pa.— An expert from Metro Bank will offer tips and tools on Household Budgeting on Sunday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the Elizabethville Library Arts Series. Join other community members to learn about the art of household budgeting during these tough economic times. Various topics will be explored such as creating and managing a household budget, learning to stick to a budget and techniques for making sense of all of the facts and figures.

Pup and her author to highlight Children's Book Week celebration


HARRISBURG, Pa.— Johanna Kerby, award winning author of Little Pink Pup, and her dog Tink will make three library appearances as the highlight of The Library’s sixth annual Joan Y. Leopold Children’s Book Week Celebration.
