What is an Interlibrary Loan Request?

DCLS provides Interlibrary Loan as a supplemental service to obtain items you want that are not owned in our local collection.  We can often borrow additional items your use from libraries in our district service area, from around the state, and from across the nation.
Rules of Interlibrary Loan:

  • Use Interlibrary Loan to request items that are not owned by DCLS.  Please check the DCLS catalog to see if we have local resources before requesting Interlibrary Loan.
  • Interlibrary Loan should be used to request older items.  If the item was published within the last 6 months, do NOT use this form, instead please Suggest the Title for Purchase
  • You are allowed to submit up to 10 Interlibrary Loan requests per month.  Note: DCLS processes Interlibrary Loan requests from all public libraries in our district service area, so requests submitted via other public libraries in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry County are included in the limit of 10 per month.
  • You must read and agree to the Terms of Use for Interlibrary Loan to submit your request.
  • For copies of articles from magazines, microfilm, or rare/specialty material, please print this special form and bring it to the library for processing.  All other Interlibrary Loan requests should be submitted online via the form.
