The Library's annual fund drive approaches halfway mark

HARRISBURG, Pa.— The Library 2012 Annual Fund Drive is currently underway. As 2013 approaches, The Library faces the end of the special supplemental funding it received from Dauphin County in 2008, which will create a $750,000 deficit in the budget.



Elizabethville Area Library to 'Make Christmas Special'

HARRISBURG, Pa.— Children of all ages can make Christmas special by coming to the Elizabethville Area Library on Saturday, December 8 at 12:30 pm or on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:00 pm. Attendees will hear holiday stories, make crafts, receive a free book and enjoy Christmas cookies. A special visitor will help welcome the holiday season.



The Library calls for 2012 Sara Haldeman Haly Awards nominations

HARRISBURG, Pa.— Nominations for The Library’s Sara Haldeman Haly Awards are now being accepted. These awards are presented each year to individuals who have made significant contributions in the areas of literacy and education in the community and to organizations that strive to improve library service in the community by partnering with The Library.



Tatting classes to be held for adults at Elizabethville Area Library

HARRISBURG, Pa.— Adults are invited to learn about tatting and create a bookmark by attending a three-session class at the Elizabethville Area Library on Wednesday, October 31 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Wednesday, November 7 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and Wednesday, November 14 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.



Blue-footed booby the focus of Children's Book Week celebration

HARRISBURG, Pa.— Dwayne Magee and Adam Arditi, local author and illustrator of A Blue-Footed Booby Named Solly McBoo, will make three library appearances as the highlight of The Library’s seventh annual Joan Y. Leopold Children’s Book Week Celebration. Magee and Arditi will appear at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 10 at the William H. & Marion C. Alexander Family Library. On Sunday, November 11 this creative team will appear at the East Shore Area Library at 2:00 pm. Registration for all three programs begins on November 1.
