Each year educators, child care providers and others bring their children to visit The Library as a group. Children learn about the library, what it has to offer, and who is there to help them. On the first visit each year for a group, each child is given a paper bag bearing The Library’s logo. Each bag contains a Locations & Hours bookmark, a letter to parents, an item promoting a key children’s resource or service, information for parents on signing up for library news by email and information on new library services.
Each time a child visits The Library as part of a group, they are given an “I Visited The Library Today” sticker. Any child who receives a library card is given an “I Got My Library Card” sticker to wear. Approximately 5400 bags are distributed each year.
