Children's Book Week
Join local author Dwayne Magee and illustrator Adam Arditi to hear all about "A Blue-Footed Booby Named Solly McBoo" during the 7th annual Joan Y. Leopold Children's Book Week Celebration at the Dauphin County Library System!
Solly McBoo is a funny little bird who is ashamed of his bright blue feet until he realizes that being different is what makes us all the same. This uplifting story is set amongst the colorful and diverse bird population of the Galapagos Islands. Throughout the week of November 5 to 11 The Library will have special displays and activity stations where children and families can do activities related to the book. In addition Storytimes will feature related themes.
Registration for the author visit events will begin on November 1.
Dwayne Magee is the Director of Print and Mail Services and a part-time student at Messiah College in Grantham, PA. Dwayne resides in Mechanicsburg, PA with his wife Sue, their two children Garrison and Grayson, and their two dogs Gracie and Sollie. Dwayne enjoys exploring environmental and social concerns through creative writing and the arts. He has just completed his second children’s book entitled “Bridges End Where Things Begin.” and he is currently working on a travel writing project called “In Search of Some Place Pleasant.” He has written and composed numerous songs including Diamonds in the Rough, a song written to raise awareness of the ongoing suffering in the war torn country of Sierra Leone.
