Dream Big Festivals (All Ages) Did you earn your Summer Reading Certificate and win your free book? Did you get your Summer Reading Club Card filled with stamps? If you did one or both of these things then you’ve earned your special invitation to the Dream Big Festival! This end of summer celebration, for children ages birth through 12 and their families, is sure to delight kids of all ages. No registration required but make sure you bring your Reading Certificate or your Summer Reading Club Card with you.

This year’s Summer Reading Club, “Dream Big: Read!” features a wide variety of programs for children of all ages and their families. Many programs require registration, but not all. Check out the programs being offered and “Dream Big: Read!” at the library!
Alice and Jimmy’s Epic Rock Dream (Ages 6-12) Alice has big ideas that no one else seems to understand and Jimmy is trying to find his rock and roll style. You can join in the fun and work together with the cast of puppets and people as they face their fears and realize their dreams. Our heroes will encounter bullies, make new friends, and need lots of help from the audience along the way. This story, from Adam Swartz Puppetry, is sure to inspire dreamers and readers of all ages to set off on their own adventures!
Book Swap Bingo (Ages 7-12) This perennial favorite is back! Bring a gently used book to donate as a prize. Then play bingo to win a book that someone else has already enjoyed reading.
Discover Duct Tape (Ages 7-12) What can you make with duct tape and recycled items? You’d be amazed. You can make purses, wallets, belts, flip-flops and more. You are only limited by your imagination - and the end of the roll.
Family Movie Time (All Ages) Bring your family, relax and enjoy a movie together! Drinks and snacks are provided at these free family friendly features. All movies are rated PG.
PAWS 2 Read (Ages 4-17) Join certified therapy dogs and read for fun. This special program encourages reluctant readers to read to the easiest, most willing audience – a dog. Each child will have an opportunity to read to the dog for about 15 minutes. Registration for this program is by appointment. Please contact Jeffrey Swope, Youth Services Programming & Outreach Coordinator at 566-0949 ext 218 to reserve your spot.
Pinocchio (Ages 6-12) Join Hampstead Stage Company for the timeless tale of Italian woodcarver, Geppetto, who carves a son out of a block of pine. Accompany the wooden marionette on his journey to become a real boy! Through Pinocchio’s mischievous adventures, he discovers that to truly be human is to be good-hearted and brave. This story of self-discovery, transformation, and redemption helps teach children the importance of honesty, education, and gratitude.
Reader's Theatre Performance (Ages 3-6) Dream Big this summer with Reader's Theater. The award-winning program is back for the 7th summer. Come to The Library and be introduced to stories, music and activities to stretch your imagination. Talented teens will star as reading role-models and perform a crowd-pleasing Readers Theater skit.
Reader's Theatre Youth Volunteers (Ages 11-18) What is Reader’s Theater? Open to everyone ages 11-18, it’s a play where you act out a role, but you read your part from a script so you don’t need to memorize any lines. Training and rehearsal is required for all volunteers. Then you get to be a reading role-model as you put on a special performance for a preschool audience.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover (Ages 3-8) You can't sleep over at The Library, but your favorite stuffed animal can! Bring your stuffed animal (just one please) to The Library the day before this program. Come back the next day to pick up your furry, feathered or scaled friend. You will share a Storytime, see a slide show of what your favorite friend was up to overnight and enjoy a snack. You will also make a special gift just for your stuffed friend. Wait until you see what your friend was up to during their night at The Library!

Summer Reading Fun (Ages 3-12 Join in the Summer Reading fun with this program featuring activities, crafts and more that explore the night. From the night sky, to nocturnal animals, to bed time we’ll help you to Dream Big this summer!
Try Tie Dye (Ages 7-12) What says summer more than bright colors and fun? Bring an item that’s been washed and is ready to dye: t-shirt, pillowcase, canvas bag, or bandana. Don’t forget your imagination!
Wizard of Oz (Ages 6-12) Come enjoy Hampstead Stage Company’s classic adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. As Dorothy tries to find her way home, she and her companions embark on a strange and enchanting adventure. Teamwork and confidence are highlighted as they journey along the Yellow Brick Road to find the wonderfully mysterious Wizard of Oz.
Zany Days at The Library (Ages 2-12) Remember Freaky Fridays? This year we’re having Zany Days! Stories, crafts, games and more await you at this crazy, kooky, silly…zany program that will encourage you to Dream Big!
Zoo America: Creatures of the Night (Age 7-12) What do skunks, snakes, tarantulas and alligators have in common? They all hunt at night. Learn about these and other nocturnal animals and the adaptations that make them successful nighttime creatures.
Zoo America: Whooooo Are the Owls? (Ages 7-12) From the Great Horned to the Saw-whet, owls come in many shapes and sizes. Meet the creatures considered most wise and explore the interesting adaptations they use for survival in their environment.
