Kick off the new year by creating a Vision Board to remind you – every day – of what you want for you in the coming year. Former Cat Country 96 On-Air Personality, Christine DiPeri, will help you discover your potential and walk you through the creative process of making your own vision board. All supplies will be provided. 

 

 

Job Seekers Resources

Looking for a first job or hoping to land something better? Re-entering the workforce? The Library is here to help! Drop in during this time and get access to computers and experienced staff, who can assist with formatting resumes, searching for jobs, and filling out applications.

 

Tackle the Snacks: Cooking for the Big Game

Professional chef Natalie Baker will demonstrate how to make game winning recipes that are sure to impress your guests.

 

Device Club

New to using a tablet or iPad and want to increase your skills or knowledge? Each Device Club session includes a short presentation on a general topic or specific app, followed by question and practice time. Learn to change settings, set up email, install and remove apps, access Wi-Fi, download e-books, and more.

 

Basic Email I
ND: Wednesday, January 16 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm
At Basic Email I, you’ll learn the difference between email and website addresses, compose and send a new email, view and reply to received mail, understand the difference between inbox, sent and trash folders, and log into Gmail without assistance. Bring your own laptop or borrow one from The Library.

 

Blood Drive
ND: Wednesday, January 23 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm
The Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will be visiting The Library to accept blood donations. Save lives and get a snack! You must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with parental consent, to donate.

 

Fandom Friday
ESA: Friday, January 25 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Take an evening to watch fan favorite and cult classic movies with people who get geeky about the same things you do… or discover what the hype is all about if you’ve never seen the movie before. Snacks will be provided. Intended for an adult audience, even if the movie is not.

 

Game Day
JOH: Saturday, January 26 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Spend some time playing the board games you loved as a kid or another tabletop game you are just learning. Bring your own game or play one from The Library’s collection.

 

Battle the Winter Blahs
AFL: Saturday, January 26 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression related to the change in seasons. For individuals with SAD, it is common to feel sad, irritated or less energetic during the winter months. We’ll discuss the causes of SAD and discuss ways to minimize its effects. We will also have activities that are designed to brighten your day.

 

Trash to Treasure
ND: Tuesday, January 29 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Turn your junk into jewelry. You’ll learn the basics of making jewelry with recycled materials and other craft supplies. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies.

 

Knit 1, Crochet Too!
KL: Wednesday, January 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
EV: Thursday, January 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Whether you can whip up a sweater in a day or you don’t know a knitting needle from a crochet hook, this class is for you. Bring your own supplies and join us for an evening of learning and conversation.

 

Books on Tap!

Teen Night: Stop Motion Animation
AFL: Thursday, January 3 at 6:00 pm
Bring your friends and explore different activities, arts and crafts, try cool tech toys and more.  This month, bring your phone or tablet and learn to make short stop motion animations!

 

Video Game Club
MOM: Every Monday (except January 21) from 4:00 – 5:00 pm
Hang out with friends and enjoy video games and snacks. Each week we vote on and play different multiplayer games on a PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The Library will provide the systems, games, controllers, and snacks.

 

Afternoon Hangout
AFL: Every Tuesday from 3:00 – 4:00 pm
MOM: Every Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00 pm

Come hang out and play games, make some art, or go old school and build with LEGOs. Each week we’ll have new things going on at The Library for you.

 

Dungeons and Dragons

Join us the first Wednesday of each month (mostly) for a Dungeons and Dragons adventure. For beginners or experts!
