Discovery Program Descriptions
123 Play With Me (Ages 1-3)
Engage your child in play that helps strengthen motor skills, social skills, and encourages early literacy. During each session a different community resource professional will be available to answer parenting questions. Children get a chance to play together and parents get a chance to share experiences and concerns. >>Registration Info
BookRATs (Ages 6-11)
BookRATs (Read And Talk) is a monthly book discussion group. Read a book (we'll choose a topic--you choose a book) and talk about what you've read. Kids also do a craft or activity, have a snack and pick a book for next month. >>Registration Info
Daddy & Me (Ages 3-6)
Calling all Dads! Bring your child to this unique Storytime where you and your young ones will hear stories, sing songs, and share your love of reading. >>Registration Info
Discover Math and Science (Ages 3-6)
Help your child be ready to learn in school with this program that builds critical skills. With great hands-on games, toys and experiments related to math and science this program is sure to engage children’s curiosity and encourage them to discover the fun in learning. >>Registration Info
Explore Art (Ages 3-6)
Watch your child’s imagination and creativity blossom while exploring art at The Library. Children learn about storytelling with color, pattern and texture as they develop fine and gross motor skills through painting, sculpting and drawing. Family Fun (All Ages)
Come to The Library for a program filled with crafts, music and other fun activities. Free quality time for each family! >>Registration Info
For Me, For You, For Later (Ages 3-5)
A special series focusing on early financial education skills, using games, toys and activities that help develop math and counting concepts. Your child will shop at a pretend market, make change from the cash register, and learn about saving and spending. Each child receives a book and other materials to keep. These series are part of the PNC Grow Up Great initiative and are supported by the PNC Foundation. >>Registration Info
Get Moving (ages 3-6)
Simple yoga moves and sign language bring a fresh perspective to learning the alphabet. This program introduces each letter with a yoga pose and sign language word to help your child learn both language and movement. Program length: 45 minutes, Registration Limit: 12. >>Registration Info
Learn and Play (Ages 1-3)
Designed as a follow-up to 123 Play with Me. In this program children and grown-ups continue to Learn and Play together. Simple art activities, toys, and sharing with others will help children strengthen motor and social skills, while being encouraged in early reading to foster a love of books. >>Registration Info
Lego Club (Ages 6-11)
Give your child a chance to explore sculpture, architecture, and concepts of geometry all while having fun! Kids will build something from their imagination on their own or with others, and will share a story about their creation. Lego Club at The Library is sure to become a fast favorite. >>Registration Info
Parachute Adventure: Rhythm, Rhyme & Movement (Ages 3-6)
Your child’s learning skills will reach new heights with this special Storytime that uses a parachute to get toddlers working their minds and bodies. Featuring stories, songs, rhymes, and fun activities designed to help children develop crucial learning skills. >>Registration Info
Read Conmigo! (Ages 3-6)
Children have a natural ability to learn language and the sooner they start learning, the more likely they are to master more than one language. Presented in both English and Spanish. Program length: 45 minutes. Registration Limit: 15.

Tasty Tales (Ages 3-6)
Explore the world of healthy eating (and cooking) with books, rhymes, songs, and, of course, food! Each week, you and your child will explore a different type of food or meal and learn how to prepare it together. Toss in some math and science activities and a few stories that relate to the food of the day and it all adds up to a delicious time for everyone! Program length: 45 minutes. Wee Move (Ages 19-35 Months)
Music and movement are crucial to the development of motor skills—and they’re fun! Your child will use simple movements to learn safe practices, like holding an adult’s hand when crossing the street, as well as good health habits like hand washing, cleaning up toys and getting dressed. World Beats (Ages 4-6)
Musical instruments from around the world introduce children to music, folklore, and cultural traditions that highlight the differences and the similarities we all share. Each week a different culture will be explored through story and song. >>Registration Info
World of Play (Ages 6–11)
Who doesn’t enjoy a good game? Using ancient and modern toys from around the world, children will practice coordination and cooperation in this engaging program.
